چکیده

Skin is being increasingly exposed to artificial blue light due the extensive use of electronic devices, which can induce cell oxidative stress, causing signs early photo aging. The Melissa officinalis phytocomplex a new standardized cosmetic ingredient obtained by an in vitro plant culture with high content rosmarinic acid. In this study, we examine activity protect skin against and infrared damages, evaluating ROS (Radical Oxygen Species) level keratinocyte line from human (HaCaT) Nrf2 (Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2), elastin, MMP1 (Matrix Metalloproteinase 1) immunostaining living explants ex vivo. This demonstrates antioxidant reducing production thus oxidant damage caused UV exposure. addition, it inhibits light-induced transcriptional activity, IR-induced elastin alteration, MMP-1 release. innovative active for products that able screen exposure damages stress.

Melissa Officinalis L. Extracts Protect Human Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells against Oxidative Stress-Induced Apoptosis

BACKGROUND We evaluated the protective effect of ALS-L1023, an extract of Melissa officinalis L. (Labiatae; lemon balm) against oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in human retinal pigment epithelial cells (ARPE-19 cells). METHODS ARPE-19 cells were incubated with ALS-L1023 for 24 h and then treated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and intracellular generation ...

Protective effect of Melissa officinalis extract against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in human vascular endothelial cells

Melissa officinalis L. is a medicinal plant with a large variety of pharmacological effects and traditional applications. This study aimed to evaluate the protective and antioxidant activities of the extract of M. officinalis aerial parts on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) under oxidative stress induced by H2O2. Cells were incubated with H2O2 (0.5 mM, 2 h) after pretreatment wit...

Protective effect of Melissa officinalis aqueous extract against Mn-induced oxidative stress in chronically exposed mice

Manganese (Mn) is an essential element for biological systems; however occupational exposure to high levels of this metal may lead to neurodegenerative disorders, resembling Parkinson's disease (PD). While its mechanisms of neurotoxicity have yet to be fully understood, oxidative stress plays a critical role. Thus, the main goal of this study was to investigate the efficacy of aqueous extract o...

Melissa officinalis and Passiflora caerulea infusion as physiological stress decreaser.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of a Melissa officinalis and Passiflora caerulea infusion on the severity of physiological chronic stress induced by movement restriction in CF-1 mice. 40 CF-1 male mice, six weeks of age, were divided into 4 groups (n = 10 for each group): (1) Group RS/MP received two treatments, induced stress through movement restriction and a infusion ...
